Product Description

Industrial applications

Sodium sulfate anhydrous is also spelled sodium sulphate anhydrous. In powdered detergents, anhydrous sodium sulfate serves as a neutral filler and diluent. It helps set the solids balance of a formulation; it does not provide the cleaning and foaming action of a surfactant. Sodium lauryl sulfate granular has a different role as an anionic surfactant.

Other detergent ingredients are selected for separate functions: sodium carbonate provides alkalinity, sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) acts as a builder and sequestrant, and sodium silicate is used as a builder and corrosion inhibitor in suitable formulations. These ingredients are not direct substitutes for sodium sulfate, and the finished formulation needs its own performance assessment.

Sodium sulfate is also used in glass manufacture and as an electrolyte in textile dyeing. For glass, impurity control matters to the finished appearance and process. In dye baths, suitability and addition rate depend on the fibre, dye system and process conditions.

Specification and quality selection

This product is the anhydrous salt, Na₂SO₄. Agree the sodium sulfate assay and its reporting basis, moisture, water-insoluble matter, chloride, iron, calcium and magnesium limits needed for your application. Particle-size distribution and bulk density are useful where conveying, blending and dissolution behaviour affect the production line.

A grade name alone does not define all of these acceptance limits. Your quotation should state the agreed specification and acceptance criteria. Share an existing specification or the process requirement so that we can discuss the relevant quality controls.

Packing, storage and handling

Lined bags are a common industrial packaging format for this solid. Tell us your preferred packing and handling arrangement; the bag construction, net weight and pallet requirements are agreed with the quotation.

Anhydrous sodium sulfate absorbs moisture. Keep the material dry and the packaging closed to limit moisture uptake, caking and contamination. Control dust during transfer and follow the product Safety Data Sheet and workplace handling procedures.

Documents and bulk enquiries

We can provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA), Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the offered product. The agreed specification sets the acceptance limits; the applicable COA records the reported analysis for the relevant material.

For a bulk sodium sulfate quotation, send us your application and approximate quantity. Add your target specification, packing preference and destination if available, and we can discuss the remaining order details with you.

FAQ - Technical & Supply Chain

  • Q:

Is anhydrous sodium sulfate the same as Glauber’s salt?

A: No. Anhydrous sodium sulfate, CAS 7757-82-6, is Na₂SO₄. Glauber’s salt is sodium sulfate decahydrate, CAS 7727-73-3, containing water of crystallization. Equal weights do not provide the same amount of Na₂SO₄, so a change requires the formulation and assay basis to be recalculated.
  • Q:

Is sodium sulfate the same as sodium lauryl sulfate?

A: No. Sodium sulfate anhydrous is an inorganic salt commonly used as a filler in powdered detergents. Sodium lauryl sulfate is a separate anionic surfactant used for cleaning and foaming. They have different chemical identities and functions.
  • Q:

Which information helps you quote bulk sodium sulfate?

A: Send us the intended application and approximate quantity. If available, add limits for assay, moisture, chloride, iron and water-insoluble matter, along with particle-size requirements, packing preference and destination. We can discuss the specification and remaining order details with you.
