Uses
1. Octocol can be used instead of hexatecarbon alcohol, such as as used as a dispersant in pharmaceuticals, as a cream and emulsifier in cosmetics, and also as a rice field insulation, reservoir covering agent, defoamer, polishing agent, lubricant, etc. Octetol can be used in the production of flat adders, resins and synthetic rubber, color picking film colorants, etc. Antioxidant 1076 (2082-79-3) can be prepared by reacting with β-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate methyl ester at 130°C for 2-3 h with sodium methanol as catalyst and dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent. This is an excellent non-polluting non-toxic antioxidant, which is widely used in polyolefins, polyamides, polyesters, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, ABS resins to expand various rubber petroleum products.
