Polypropylene Glycol 1000 (PPG-1000) CAS 25322-69-4

PPG-1000 is a polypropylene glycol grade with a nominal average molecular weight of about 1,000. It is used as a lubricant or formulation component, plasticizer, foam-control ingredient and chemical intermediate in compatible industrial systems. For a higher nominal molecular weight within the same PPG series, PPG-2000 is a related grade; the actual specification should determine selection. Confirm the supplied grade against the current COA, TDS and SDS.

  • CAS: 25322-69-4
  • Synonyms: PPG-1000; Polypropylene glycol 1000; Poly(propylene oxide) diol; Polyether diol
  • Einecs: 500-039-8
  • Molecular Formula: General structure: HO–[CH(CH₃)CH₂O]ₙ–H; polymer distribution, nominal average molecular weight ≈1,000.
  • Grade: Confirm the commercial grade code, average molecular mass or composition distribution, hydroxyl or viscosity data, water and physical form against the current TDS and COA.
  • Package: State required quantity, physical form and destination; confirm the current bag or container, liner, net weight, temperature handling and transport requirements before quotation.

Product Description

Parameters

Chemical identityPolypropylene glycol (propane-1,2-diol, propoxylated)
Nominal average molecular weight≈1,000; confirm by COA/TDS
Hydroxyl valueSupplier specification in the current COA/TDS
ViscositySupplier specification at the stated test temperature and method
Water / acid valueSupplier specification by COA

Applications

For compatible industrial lubricant, plasticizer, foam-control and process formulations. Validate performance in the customer’s complete formulation before approval. Do not market an unspecified technical grade beyond its documented industrial uses.

For related polypropylene glycol molecular-weight grades, see PPG-200 and PPG-2000.

Storage

Keep PPG-1000 in its unopened original container in a dry, ventilated area at the temperature stated in the current TDS/SDS. Protect it from contamination, moisture, heat and incompatible materials.

Safety / Regulatory

For industrial use. Review the current SDS before handling. Use the engineering controls and PPE required by the SDS, prevent uncontrolled release, and do not reuse generic toxicology statements from other grades.

FAQ - Technical & Supply Chain

  • Q:

Does the PPG 1000 label denote an exact molecular weight?

A: No. PPG 1000 is a polypropylene glycol distribution centered near a nominal average molecular mass of about 1,000. Individual chains have different lengths, so its quality is defined by the agreed analytical ranges rather than a single molecular weight or purity percentage.
  • Q:

Why cannot PPG 1000 and PPG 2000 be exchanged by CAS number?

A: They can share CAS 25322-69-4 but differ in average chain length, viscosity, and hydroxyl-value range. Those differences can change blending, stoichiometry, and finished-system behavior, so a replacement requires evaluation under the intended process conditions.
