Silk Amino Acids (also known as Hydrolyzed Silk) are obtained by the hydrolysis of silk fibers. Unlike high molecular weight silk proteins that form films on the surface, Silk Amino Acids have a very low molecular weight (typically < 1000 Daltons). This allows them to penetrate the hair shaft and the upper layers of the epidermis.
