Dipropylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether (DPM) (CAS 34590-94-8) is supplied as a slow-evaporating glycol-ether solvent for coating, ink, cleaning and process formulations. We quote DPM by its CAS and grade, not as a generic propylene-glycol ether; it is distinct from PM / 1-methoxy-2-propanol (CAS 107-98-2).

    Is DPM the same as propylene glycol monomethyl ether (PGME)?

    A: No. DPM contains an additional propylene-oxide unit and is normally selected where a slower-evaporating glycol ether is needed. Confirm the intended resin system and evaporation profile rather than substituting it directly for PGME.

    Can DPM be used in waterborne coating systems?

    A: DPM is water-miscible and is used as a coalescent or solvent in many waterborne systems. Compatibility and the final evaporation balance should be evaluated with the complete resin, pigment and additive package.
