Product Description

Product Introduction

Antioxidant 168 (AO-168) (CAS 31570-04-4), tris(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphite, is supplied as a phosphite processing stabiliser for polymer compounding. We offer AO-168 where the formulation specifies a secondary antioxidant during melt processing, often alongside an approved primary phenolic antioxidant. It is quoted as its own phosphite grade, not as a replacement for the primary antioxidant in a stabiliser package.

Applications

  • Polyethylene, polypropylene and olefin copolymer compounding and pelletising.
  • Polycarbonates, polyamides, polyesters and styrenic polymer systems that specify a phosphite stabiliser.
  • Elastomer, adhesive, tackifier-resin and selected coating-resin formulations.
  • Polymer stabiliser packages combining AO-168 with a specified phenolic antioxidant or light stabiliser.

Grade and Supply Details

We confirm the required assay, colour, melting range, volatile or hydrolysis-related limit, physical form and stated test method for the agreed formulation. AO-168 is normally offered as a white free-flowing powder in the selected packaging. A batch COA, with the applicable TDS and SDS, is available for the offered material.

FAQ - Technical & Supply Chain

  • Q:

Is Antioxidant 168 the same as AO-168?

A: Yes. AO-168 is a common abbreviation for Antioxidant 168, CAS 31570-04-4. The offered material should be confirmed by its chemical identity, grade and batch release data rather than by the shorthand name alone.
  • Q:

Why is Antioxidant 168 often used with a hindered phenolic antioxidant?

A: Antioxidant 168 is a phosphite processing stabiliser, while hindered phenolics act as primary antioxidants. They may be combined where a formulation requires complementary stabilisation during polymer melt processing; the ratio must suit the specific resin system.
  • Q:

Which release values are relevant for an Antioxidant 168 lot?

A: Confirm the agreed assay together with melting range, volatile matter, ash and light-transmittance values where specified. The COA limits should match the processing conditions and the polymer formulation for which the material is being selected.
