Para-Dodecylphenol (PDDP), CAS 27193-86-8, is a commercial dodecyl-substituted phenol used as a reactive intermediate for phenolic resins, lubricant-additive chemistry and related alkylphenol derivatives. The CAS number identifies dodecylphenol rather than a fixed pure isomer, so buyers should define dodecylphenol content, para substitution, alkyl-chain distribution, free phenol, color and water for the intended process. Current COA, TDS and SDS are available for the offered bulk grade.

Product Description
Dodecylphenol properties: a mixture of various isomers, prepared by alkylation of phenol with tetrapropylene (isododecene) catalyzed by a cation-exchange resin or activated clay. It is a raw material for lubricating-oil antioxidants and additives, and is also used in organic synthesis. Long-chain alkylphenols are widely used in detergents, fuel-oil additives, lubricants and polymers, and are among the raw materials for phenolic resins.
Application: used in epoxy crystal adhesives to improve surface leveling and accelerate curing; recommended addition level 0.5-10%.
Packing: 200kg iron drum or 50kg plastic drum packaging.

FAQ - Technical & Supply Chain
-
Q:
Is CAS 27193-86-8 the correct identity for Dodecylphenol?
A: Yes. CAS 27193-86-8 identifies Dodecylphenol. CAS 27193-28-8 identifies tetramethylbutylphenol, commonly associated with tert-Octylphenol, and must not appear on a PDDP order or shipping document. -
Q:
What is Para-Dodecylphenol used for?
A: Para-Dodecylphenol is mainly used as an intermediate for lubricant additives, antioxidants, surfactants, fuel and polymer additives, and phenolic-resin derivatives. It can also be used in selected epoxy systems to improve leveling and accelerate cure. -
Q:
Does the Dodecylphenol CAS number guarantee one pure para isomer?
A: No. Commercial Dodecylphenol can contain an alkyl-chain and positional-isomer distribution. If the process requires Para-Dodecylphenol, specify the para-substitution basis, dodecylphenol content, alkyl distribution and analytical method instead of relying on the CAS number alone. -
Q:
What should a PDDP purchase specification include?
A: Define dodecylphenol content, para-isomer requirement, hydroxyl value or equivalent assay, free phenol, color, water and physical form. Also confirm destination regulatory acceptance for alkylphenols. Para-Dodecylphenol carries a C12 alkyl group and has different performance from shorter-chain alkylphenols. -
Q:
How should Para-Dodecylphenol be stored and handled?
A: Para-Dodecylphenol is normally a transparent to viscous oily liquid and is generally stored at room temperature in a tightly closed container. Protect it from contamination and prolonged exposure to air, and use suitable personal protection and spill-control measures.
